Coenzyme Q10 + Vitamin E
[Questions & Answers]
I have read that coenzyme Q10 is required for energy production in the body. How would taking your product Coenzyme Q10 + Vitamin E benefit me?
Coenzyme Q10 is a substance, which is essential for the production of energy on a cellular level.
It would appear that with advancing age our ability to produce coenzyme Q10 may become compromised. This may particularly affect those areas of physiology that have high-energy requirements, such as the cardiovascular system, the immune system and the liver. By taking a food supplement providing coenzyme Q10, levels of this important enzyme can easily be safeguarded.
Those with a demanding life, convalescents and the elderly may particularly benefit from taking coenzyme Q10 in food supplement form either long-term or periodically.
Is a 10 mg daily dose of coenzyme Q10 enough? I have been told that a minimum of 30 mg has to be taken in order for it to be effective?
It would appear that individuals have a different ability to absorb coenzyme Q10. For some a 10 mg daily dose is sufficient, whilst higher doses may affect their ability to sleep for example.
We usually recommend that those new to coenzyme Q10 food supplements start with a lower dose and build it up to establish the best level for them.
For those who wish to take a higher dose we have Coenzyme Q10 + Magnesium, providing 30 mg of coenzyme Q10 per tablet.
Why is your coenzyme Q10 product not in an oil base, as it would appear to be a better way to provide this nutrient?
Taking our coenzyme Q10 tablets with a meal containing dietary oil should be sufficient to ensure a good uptake of this nutrient. Providing coenzyme Q10 in a tablet form has the additional advantage of making it also suitable for our vegetarian and vegan customers, who are unwilling to take non-vegetarian gelatine capsules.
What exactly is coenzyme Q10?
Coenzyme Q10 is a substance naturally produced by the body, but is also contained in all plant and animal foods. This coenzyme is also known as ubiquinone.
Coenzyme Q10 is an essential component of the body's process that makes the energy molecule, also known as adenosine triphosphate (ATP), from the food we eat. If coenzyme Q10 levels are compromised so is also the ability of the body to make energy. All body processes depend on energy and so ultimately does good health.
Coenzyme Q10 has also been shown to possess antioxidant properties.
