About the product
Wassen Visio-MAX is an antioxidant formula containing extract of bilberry in combination with antioxidant vitamins and selenium for the maintenance of eye health.
Every day the human eye is exposed to ultra-violet light and other damaging influences, as a result free radicals form in the lens of the eye. The oxidation of lens proteins is believed to play an important part in the development of eye disease.
Visio-MAX is formulated to help maintain a protective effect against sunlight-related free radicals as well as helping to maintain the eye tissues in good condition structurally as well as functionally. Bilberry has long been associated with helping to maintain optimal eyesight as well as the healthy maintenance of the fine blood vessels through which cells receive nutrients and oxygen for maximum ocular function.
Main constituents and their nutritional roles
ANTIOXIDANT NUTRIENTS
The trace element selenium in combination with the antioxidant vitamins beta- carotene, vitamin C and E have been included in this formula as they have been shown to exert a protective effect against free radical damage. Excessive exposure to sunlight, use of VDU screens, pollutants such as cigarette smoke or car emissions are likely to increase free radical activity.
Free radicals are also implicated in the ageing process where antioxidant nutrients such as selenium, beta-carotene, vitamins C and E as well as bilberry extract may have a protective part to play.
B - VITAMINS
B vitamins have been included, as they are required for energy production and many ongoing metabolic processes in the body, including those of the eyes.
Several B vitamins are important for maintenance of a healthy nervous system; B12 deficiency can cause poor vision; B2 deficiency can lead to cataracts BUT people prone to cataracts should not take more than 10 mg B2 daily because the combination of light, oxygen and riboflavin increases the risk of cataract development.
BILBERRY EXTRACT
Bilberry extract has a specific affinity for eye tissues, where it exerts a strengthening effect on the fine blood vessels through which the eyes receive their nourishment. Bilberry extract also has a protective effect on cells and body tissues due to its antioxidant function.
Who can benefit from taking Wassen Visio-MAX?
• Those who wish to take additional nutrients to maintain the health of their eyes.
• Those working in dim or very bright lights.
• Those whose occupation exposes them to continuous eye strain, eg, students, drivers, pilots
• Individuals regularly using VDU screens
• Those who want to counteract the natural effect of ageing on the eyes by increasing their daily intake of antioxidant nutrients.
